"We are looking for an experienced news designer to join our design team on a freelance basis for an exciting onsite project. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding creative thinker with a strong understanding of editorial design and an excellent grasp of typography, photos, and news hierarchy.
Skills and requirements:
- Excellent news layout skills and ability to conceptualize templates and pages
- Proven time management skills for live projects with the ability to quickly handle multiple changes, prioritize, and consistently meet deadlines
- A reputation for flawless attention to detail and maintaining high quality of work under deadline pressure
- Able to tell stories in innovative ways, with a desire to constantly push the creative envelope
- Develop illustrations, logos and other designs as needed
- Rigorously follow and develop brand guidelines wherever needed
- Work with editors and copywriters to produce final design
- Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on-brand
- Effective communicator who is quickly able to grasp concepts and instructions as well as get along with a diverse team
- Able to handle production of bulk editorial content under unrelenting deadlines
- Five to eight years of experience in news and graphic design
- Self-starter who needs minimal creative supervision and guidance
- Must have In-dept knowledge in latest version of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat
- Able to produce print ready PDF pages.
- Knowledge of publishing workflow and good grasp of design principles.
